Million Dollar Chicken Casserole

Million Dollar Chicken Casserole

If you’re looking for a million dollar chicken casserole that tastes like a splurge but comes together in minutes, you’ve hit the jackpot. This million dollar chicken casserole is called “million dollar” for a reason — it’s unapologetically rich, creamy, and loaded with flavor from just a handful of simple ingredients. With tender shredded chicken, a luscious blend of cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, and a crispy buttery cracker topping, this million dollar chicken bake will have your family asking for it every week. Best of all, it’s a true dump-and-bake recipe with only 10 minutes of active prep.

Why This Million Dollar Chicken Casserole Is a Winner

  • Only 7 ingredients – most are dairy staples you likely have on hand.
  • No cream-of-anything soup – real ingredients, real flavor.
  • 10-minute prep – then the oven does the work.
  • Perfect for leftover chicken – rotisserie chicken works great.
  • Crowd-pleaser – creamy, cheesy, and topped with irresistible buttery crunch.

Tips for the Best Million Dollar Chicken Casserole

  • Soften the cream cheese – leave it on the counter for 30 minutes or microwave for 10–15 seconds. Cold cream cheese will leave lumps.
  • Use full-fat dairy – for the richest, creamiest result. Low-fat works but the texture will be slightly thinner.
  • Don’t skip resting – letting the casserole sit helps it set up for cleaner slices.
  • Make it ahead – assemble everything except the cracker topping, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add topping just before baking.
  • Add vegetables – stir in 1 cup of frozen peas, chopped broccoli, or spinach for extra color and nutrition.

What to Serve With Million Dollar Chicken Casserole

This casserole is very rich, so lighter sides work best:

  • Steamed green beans or roasted asparagus
  • Simple green salad with lemon vinaigrette
  • Roasted Brussels sprouts
  • Cranberry sauce (adds a nice sweet-tart contrast)

Storage & Reheating

  • Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Freezer: Freeze the fully baked and cooled casserole for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Reheat: For best results, reheat in a 350°F oven for 10–15 minutes to restore the crispy topping. Microwaving will soften the crackers.
