About Home with Jana

Hi, I’m Jana. Welcome to Home with Jana.

Home with Jana started from something very simple: my love of making food at home and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.

I’m a home cook, baker, cookbook author, artist, and the creator behind the Home with Jana YouTube channel. I live a pretty ordinary life in Michigan with my husband, Tim, and our cats. My kitchen isn’t a professional test kitchen, and the food you’ll find here isn’t made by a restaurant chef. It’s the food I actually make in my own home.

I’ve always loved the idea that good food doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Some days that means making bread from scratch. Other days it might be turning a pound of ground beef into a filling dinner, making homemade candy, baking an old-fashioned dessert, or finding a new way to use ingredients already sitting in the pantry.

That’s what you’ll find throughout Home with Jana.

What You’ll Find Here

I share homemade recipes for everyday people—comfort foods, breads and doughs, desserts, budget-friendly meals, pantry recipes, holiday favorites, and plenty of things made from scratch.

I especially enjoy taking foods we normally buy at the grocery store and seeing if I can make them at home instead. Sometimes the homemade version saves money. Sometimes it simply tastes better. And sometimes I make it just because I want to know if I can.

I don’t believe food needs to look perfect to be good. My bread may come out a little uneven. The chocolate coating on homemade candy might not be perfectly smooth. A pie crust might have a crooked edge. That’s real cooking, and I’m perfectly comfortable with that.

More Than Recipes

Home with Jana is connected to my larger work on YouTube, where I share cooking, baking, homemaking, painting, simple living, and conversations about finding contentment in an ordinary life.

I’ve also written cookbooks and other books, and I’ve spent years creating recipes in my own kitchen. This website gives me a permanent place to organize those recipes so other people can make them in their homes too.

If you’ve ever stood in your kitchen wondering what you could make with what you already have, wanted to learn how to make something from scratch, or simply wanted a dependable homemade recipe without making things unnecessarily complicated, I hope you’ll find something here that helps.

Thank you for visiting Home with Jana and for allowing a little piece of my home into yours.
