Prep & Preheat
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8x8-inch (20x20cm) baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together:
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Cocoa powder
- Salt
- Baking powder
- Flour
Add Wet Ingredients
- Stir in melted butter (or oil), eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined (do not overmix).
- Fold in chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (and nuts, if using).
Bake
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes (a toothpick should come out with moist crumbs, not wet batter).
- For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake (~23-25 mins).
Cool & Slice
- Let cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes before lifting out and slicing.
