Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon maple flavoring or vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, add the corn syrup, granulated sugar, and water. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a rolling boil and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. The syrup will slightly thicken as it heats.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and immediately stir in the maple flavoring or vanilla extract. Stir well to combine.
  • Let the syrup cool for a few minutes before serving. It will thicken as it cools. Serve warm over pancakes, waffles, French toast, or drizzle over oatmeal.

Recipe Tips & Variations

✔️ Make it Darker: Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar for a deeper, caramel-like flavor.
✔️ Extra Richness: Swap half of the water for milk or cream for a creamier consistency.
✔️ Storage Tips: Store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop before serving.
✔️ Thicker Syrup: If you like a thicker syrup, let it boil for an extra minute, but be careful not to overcook.
